Datus
Resilience programme
– DATUS is a highly successful organisation that works with stigmatised groups to help them overcome challenging life and work problems so they can become successful and happy again.
The Challenge
Introduce a programme that develops resiliency and provides a stress management tool that staff can use with the various groups it engages with.
Various departments with the Datus identified a need for a flexible, online, tool. This was primarily to increase individuals’ self-awareness and understanding of their own strengths and areas for development, so they take more responsibility for their own wellbeing.
The Approach
Bespoke mindfulness and resiliency sessions and courses were developed and delivered via webinar that included practical tools that participants could take away and implement.
Following a referral from a leading charitable organisation, we designed and delivered specialised webinar training for super users and ran ‘train the coach’ sessions for their internal coaches to allow them to support the communities they were working to help.
Commenting on why this programme was chosen, Ian Maxwell, of the drug addiction team said, ‘It was their reputation and use of technology – John and his team also genuinely care which is a rare commodity these days.
Results
Increased self-awareness and confidence, with improved ability to help users of the programmes. Ian comments, ‘It has opened participants’ eyes what it is they need to do differently. They are improving themselves.’
The users themselves describe the training as insightful, thought provoking and frank, and the sessions were invaluable.
Datus will continue to encourage more current and future Team Leaders to use the tool. ‘We wanted colleagues to be more self-aware and to understand their own strengths and challenges, so they can design and implement their own development programme.
